color coordinated suggestions
>>>>
1. Just say No to the character tops, graphic tees, and tops with logos. Your little one might love his superhero shirt, but graphics can be very distracting in a photo.
2. No billed hats (such as a baseball cap). It often creates shadows on the face which is something we want to avoid.
3. Men, please do not wear white athletic socks. If you’re sitting at some point in your session, those white socks will show and your wife will not be happy!
4. No tennis shoes with your Handsome Clothes! Nothing is worse, in my opinion, than a nicely dressed man in a pair of Nike's.
5.Women, don’t forget to remove the hair tie around your wrist.I try really hard to check for it but sometimes a session gets busy!
6. Make sure your nail polish is free of chipping.
7. Remove the sunglasses.
8. Please keep your Cell Phones in your car, purse or tucked away!
1. Plan Ahead – Start considering your clothing as soon as you book your photo session. Nothing is worse than waiting until the last minute and running around town to try to find the perfect outfits. I design inspiration boards online. It helps me envision what the big picture will look like before ordering anything.
2. Surroundings – Where have you chosen to have your family photos taken? Consider your surroundings. If the backdrop of your photos is a field or wooded area you wouldn’t necessarily want to be in high heels, your husband in a tie, and your children in their Sunday best.
3. Pick three colors – Gone are the days of wearing all white or all black in your family photos. Think coordinating not matching. I will usually start with the outfit for me- The Mom. I’ll pick out something that I really love, pull a few colors out of the outfit, and dress the rest of the family in those. But, I try to play up texture, add layers, and add subtle patterns in here and there. Don’t forget the accessories. These are the finishing touch that brings everything together.
4. Final Results – Consider where these photos will hang in your home. Is your home very neutral and do you want to display large canvases of these images? If so, you might choose coordinated outfits that would flow with your home decor. If your home is colorful choosing outfits with a pop of color would be ideal.
